| I made one call I can safely say I regret today as a ref. Blue had the ball coming down the court and at half-court I could see some shoving and illegal screens out of the corner of my eye. I tried to look over as I saw Orange give Blue a slight shove; I let it go. As they continue down the court, Orange has set up in the post and Blue comes over and gives Orange a hard shove for no reason; easy call to make for a technical foul on Blue. *Beep* "Technical foul, blue!" In the moment, it was a good call... but I forgot about the play that was happening beforehand, and I penalized Blue when I should have just given both teams technicals and no one would have been penalized. Now I've learned my lesson, and I'll keep my eye out for those types of technical foul calls. At least I'm not reffing the Gators, right?

| If anyone knows where this is from, you get eProps and the pride of knowing you've won. Otherwise... I like this passage. I won't give an explanation.
"In my distress, I called to the Lord and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. You hurled me into the deep into the very heart of the seas and the currents swirled about me all your waves and breakers swept over me. I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple. The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O Lord my God. When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the Lord."
P.S. Should I let Pastor John play? Is that really fair? I guess I can't discriminate. Pastor John, you're welcome to play too.

| I gave out my first technical foul today. It was a pretty obvious call. So... Team A is trying to go for the loose ball. He dives on the ball and begins sliding. Team B starts calling for the travel. However, all three refs agreed later that it was not a travel, so play continued. I am the trailing official and I hear from the other side of the court, "That's a traveling call! F___!" So... BLAM! Technical foul. Man... I feel great... which is wrong... but it's exciting to know it's the first one I've ever called.

| I'm back to officiating intramural basketball again. I've gained some experience from last year, so hopefully I won't be making too many questionable calls, but I'm really excited for the season to begin. I'll be playing on a team w/ my high school friends again and we'll be playing in a relatively easy league. Hopefully, this time around we'll get some wins on our record.
Gators won against the MSU Bulldogs. It was a hard fought game with the Gators trailing for more than half the game. We are still having trouble keeping control of the ball and we are playing at too fast of a tempo for me to be comfortable. Corey Brewer was a beast today, scoring 20 points, but pulling a Kobe Bryant by shooting only 35.7%, well below his season average of 50.6%. The game was sloppy overall, but we showed our experience at the end by playing hard all the way to the last whistle.
On another note, I am pretty banged up all over. This was the first time I went to the skatepark that is located at the Broward Rec Center. The park is pretty nice with a fun box, picnic table, a kicker and a couple quarter pipes. I enjoy riding around on the silky smooth cement and it's not all that bad to fall on with no bad scrapes or scratches unlike the asphalt right outside of my apartment. However, the majority of my falls came off of trying to "drop in" on the smaller quarter pipe. It's a pretty scary sight looking down the ramp, even though it's only roughly 4 feet tall. I couldn't stay very long at the skatepark, but it is assured that I will return, hopefully tomorrow.
If I am to heal from my injuries, I must sleep. Good night, and good luck.
